“Better Pikin.”
Jessica was frying fish in the kitchen one day when Koko
came to sit in the kitchen. Jessica took a head of fish and gave it to her.
“Here Koko. Oya eat and don’t bite me.”
Koko trotted off with the fish. Few minutes later, Hamza
came in to the kitchen with Koko in tow.
“Yes, I did.”
“Okay, thank you.”
He pet Koko. “Eat it, Koko.”
Koko took the fish and followed Hamza to the balcony where
he was gisting with a friend.Koko walked past the kitchen again after some
minutes and Jessica gave her another piece of fish. Koko took it and headed to
the balcony. Jessica followed her. Koko dropped the fish beside Hamza’s leg and
barked for his attention. Hamza looked at Jessica who was standing by the door.
“Yes, I gave her.”
Hamza turned to Koko.
“Eat it, don’t worry. She’s our friend, eat whatever she
gives you.”
Koko picked up the fish and ate it. Jessica was dumbfounded.
It was even more surprising when Koko did not reject or show Hamza any other
thing Jessica gave her that day. Infact, she stayed in the Kitchen with Jessica
till cooking finished. We all learnt to get approval from Hamza before giving
Koko anything.
